We were made aware that the gym had operated in the red during the past five years upon the gym’s closure. This brings to mind this question. Why did the gym continue to expand the facility through costly renovations both inside and outside? The area that was renovated would provide services to only a small number of members. This was mismanagement on the part of both current and past managers. As a retired government employee, this reeks of some awful political decision. Why weren’t the members polled about their support of a membership fee increase? I think Vidant is known to be top heavy in the area of management and other employees are treated as peons with poor working conditions and benefits. It’s time to make our community members and Vidant workers a priority. No other gym in Greenville can compare. What local businessman will be given to opportunity to lease and reopen this center if Vidant doesn’t?

As a healthcare worker, I know the importance of workouts for those with disabilities. And this is the only place in Greenville that they have easy access to. The closest place is in Washington and it makes it harder for them to have someone to drive them there when needed.

Please reconsider this decision as the loss of Vidant Wellness Center will be immensely detrimental to thousands of our community members. I don't believe that this closure is inevitable or reasonable. For many with disabilities and other health challenges, the Wellness Center is the only appropriate fitness option, and the loss is palpable in our community. I am saddened this was even considered and hope that this misjudgment will be rectified immediately!

This center has been an integral part of Greenville’s healthy lifestyle promotion and has served all populations in an excellent manner. It is unthinkable that our community will be without it!

What will become of all the people with disabilities they utilize the wellness center? There is nowhere for them to go... this is a heartless decision. Please reconsider....

The hospital should subsidize the Wellness Center for the health and well being of our community. It is a drop in the bucket, and well worth it. Where in the entire state do such a diverse group of people go to one place to exercise and stay healthy? It is an institution unique to not only Greenville, but the state and thus should be preserved.

I was a member ever since the facility opened. I think Vidant expanded the staff and programs excessively and did not adjust monthly charges to keep it financially viable. I think by reducing staff and programs and raising rates appropriately it could be viable.

There is simply no excuse for Vidant to close a facility that is absolutely crucial to thousands of people, and many who have no other options for this type of healthcare. Absolutely no excuse. Get your act together, Vidant—I cannot be convinced that you can't afford to operate this center. What's the real story here?

My Mother In Law needs to be able to continue to use the heated pool and water aerobics for her arthritis. This is tragic that there is not another place in Greenville for her to go.
