Ms. Lisa De Wilde,
CEO - TVOntario
Dear Ms. De Wilde:
We have been pleased to learn that through the “Save TVO’s Archive”
Campaign, TVO is fundraising for the
archiving and preservation of work many of us have proudly contributed
to.
As you have been aware, Dr. Travis Doucette (himself a TVO fan and
archivist) has been instrumental in facilitating reunions for former TVO
children’s series personalities and production people, for a number of years. These events have been well attended and have
afforded us opportunities to re-connect with our colleagues and celebrate the
work we all did those many years ago.
As people intimately involved with many of
these TVO series, we have firsthand knowledge and historical information about
the many aspects of those productions.
One of the ideas Dr. Doucette has put forth, that could be of great
assistance in your archival campaign, is to produce some short online videos
advocating for funds - using past TVO
personalities who your ‘grown-up’
viewers would recognize.
Because of our interest in this project and our desire to see our
work preserved for future generations, we feel the presence of the actual hosts
would add a note of nostalgia while petitioning the public to contribute to
this important project. The intention is
to donate our on-camera time of course.
Our hope is that you will consider this offer and connect with Dr.
Doucette who has already established a solid connection base with dozens of
former TVO personalities. We believe a partnership with TVO could advance this
cause and help to preserve the work we have all come to be very proud of.
Signed,
Former TVO Personalities
It's important to archive the wonderful history of shows that TVO created over the past years - I had the privilege of working on Polka Dot Door that continues to stand the test of time - it's an outstanding kids program and should not be lost.
