I volunteer for the National Trust at Croome. The Hive holds the Coventry family archive. It is vital that the Hive remains fully open so that we can access the archive to learn more of the history of the Coventry family. We can tell our visitors more.

These are award winning archives,some of the best in the country. Given a similar petition was raised by Councillor Hodgson regarding the Elgar Papers, she should be doing all she can to preserve and protect such a valuable resource not proposing cutting funding by over a third. The archives and family history service are very well used, they are something the Council should be proud of, please think again.

The Archive and Archaeology service is staffed by extremely helpful and knowledgeable people who offer valuable help to both amateur and professional researchers.
This service must remain accessible to all and continue to 'Collect, preserve, make available and advise on archives’ (as indicated on their website).

This is an invaluable local resource for the Worcestershire community and future generations. It helps to educate and inform . I have used it many times and have found it to be such a special service right here in Worcester

I use these archives because I am tracing my family tree. The family came from Worcestershire so I need access to pursue my hobby in this are.
Please do not cut these services, find another way to cut costs.

This is very disappointing and short-sighted. Worcestershire County Council's own website describes the collection as "internationally significant" , an "exceptional collection" and an important resource for researchers.

The Archives and Archaeology services at The Hive are of NATIONAL importance, as well as being a flag-ship for the City and County. Please do not destroy what has been built up by dedicated staff over many years. Once it has gone it will be gone for ever. So much depends on the continuum provided by staff who pass on their knowledge from one generation to the next.

I am utterly appalled at such desecration to an amazing service which puts Worcester on the map. The staff are first class and would be a real loss. Since the building of the Hive they have done an incredible job, and to see this lost defies belief. A terrible, terrible decision.

Think again WCC a wonderful archive should be preserved at all costs for the future generations, this is part of our Hertitage. The Budget must be maintained.

The Archive Service isn't just about dusty files from the past it is also about our future. So many Council services, adults and children from the local area and nationally, use this resource to facilitate their every day lives in the pursuit of knowledge, learning and betterment. Worcester is central to the UK and for many is easier to reach than the Archives at Kew. So please do not destroy something that has taken years to build. Rethink how this valuable part of the County Council services can continue to be a strong and forceful part of our education and resource.

The Archive is a valuable resource to the local community for both local and family research. The knowledge of its staff is phenomenale and once lost cannot be replaced. So too the artefacts and documents it stores. The value of this resource and its potential income stream possibilities was highlighted during the efforts to secure the Elgar manuscripts.
