Archives are a valuable service to me. There are accessible for only afew hours now. A Reduction in their opening times would make the service difficult to use.

I have always found the Archive to be of high quality. The staff are extremely helpful. The documents which are held there are important and easy access is needed for researchers. The hours at present are limited and with these cuts they will inevitably be further curtailed. I wonder how the people who decide on the cuts will react to an almost infinite delay on processing present and future documents. Many of these will be in electronic form and these will need continuing care to make certain they are available to future generations, unless the present administration thinks that cutting funding will mean that these documents will not be available to praise or criticise their decisions.

Please, please do NOT implement these proposed cuts. There's many people who rely on Archive material for quality research for history, for culture, for stimulating intellectual conversations and simply for being proud to discover through family history that their migrant ancestors came from Worchestershire. Just know that Worchestershire is on my bucket list for my next UK visit.

I'm part of a local volunteer group which has obtained 3 Heritage Lottery Fund grants to research local history (people, buildings, land use) and has used Worcestershire Archives for each project. These have brought money into the County, and other groups using the Archive Service do the same. Equally, there has been and continues to be a lot of public interest in the results; it's a way of disseminating the knowledge contained in the Archives, and showing how important this is t o Worcestershire residents. Please think carefully about the wider results of this proposal.

I am a National Trust volunteer working with the Croome archive to produce exhibits, information for visitors etc. This archive was entrusted to the Worcester archive a few years ago as it was expected the library would be able to care for it properly and make it available to scholars. Closing this archive will have a hugely detrimental effect on our work - if, indeed, it can continue at all. It will also impact greatly on the visitor experience at Croome Court.

Please keep this archive service. We need it & use it regularly for National Trust exhibitions at Croome Court which draw paying visitors to Worcestershire & encourage more tourism.

I am astounded that Worcestershire CC intends to implement savage cuts to the Archive Service. As an independent researcher I am just about to send 2 academic articles, based on WAAS documents, to the Archives library. Academic research of this sort helps to put Worcestershire on the cultural and intellectual map. How are researchers, university students and family historians supposed to find material for exploring their cultural heritage if the service is to be further depleted? I beg the CC to think again.
