I regularly use the Hive and, in particular, the dark room. As a freelance artist, I get ALL of my paintings professionally photographed at the Hive to a very high standard which enables me to produce high quality prints that look exactly like the originals. The printer I use in Malvern also requests that I use this facility as the images are of such high quality. As a small local business, I would greatly suffer from the loss of this fantastic resource.
Whilst I have been in the Hive I have witnessed many people from other countries who have traveled here to use the resources. It holds such a wealth of archives that I think it would be more than damaging to the local area to lose it.
I understand that we are extremely lucky to have this on our doorstep but it would be a great loss to the community if this was restricted.
I feel that efforts need to be made in putting the records online rather than cutting services further.

As a primary school teacher in charge of the history planning, I have in the past used the archives to teach children the skills of researching their local history, using primary evidence.
It is essential that the archives are open to allow for teacher research and teacher lead activities.
This means a flexibility of hours both in the week, weekend and evenings.

I am a regular user of the Worcestershire archives. I also do business with the Darkroom section. To lose this facility would be a great loss and damaging to the Council's reputation, particularly as it forms part of the 'flagship' service that is The Hive. Even a reduced service would be damaging - the already reduced hours make visiting challenging and to reduce them further would be very damaging. Remember that many people travel many miles to use the archives, many coming from around the world especially to do so. Rather than cutting this service, more effort should be made to putting records online in order to facilitate searching and make the service more efficient on an ongoing basis. Perhaps thought should be given to a 'Friends' or 'User Subscription' to help fund the service.

This a fantastic resource and we need to make sure it is available for everyone now and for future generations. If we allow cuts now, the service will degrade over time, incurring extra costs in time for planning apps, and possibility restricted access for the local population and our childrens’ education. I understand that the archives may be able apply for extra grants so let’s make sure this resource is fully funded and remains the pride of Worcestershire. Thank you.

I belong to the North Worcestershire Archaeology Group, WAAS are very important for us, for reasearch and advice we have 35 members who use The Hive on regular basis.
