SAVE THE WORCESTERSHIRE ARCHIVES

Maintaining our heritage and culture is an essential part of a civilised society. If we lose this service it would be unforgivable.

I have recently moved to Worcestershire and am trying to learn more about the history of the house and village where I live. The Archive Service hold the primary sources for much of this research. Reducing the access to this material would be challenging for me as there is already quite a limited time window for a working person to access the search room area. The Hive holds the archives for several official bodies such as the Diocese of Worcester and local Methodist Circuits. Will they continue to trust their documents to the archive if the access to them is further reduced? The archives and HER at the Hive are amazing resources and I object to any cuts in the service.

The archives are an important resource and must remain available to all.

This is a blow to family historians and local historians records not available anywhere else.

The Worcester archives should definitely be saved! They present a wealth of information for students, professionals and migrants alike and to remove this would be outrageous!

These cuts are a blow at the community of Worcestershire present and past. The history of the county defines and inspires the community. If you close the archives then the Council is guilty of vandalism. Once the archive is closed what will be the fate of the precious documents that have been collected and preserved by earlier generations for all future generations. They are in our trust, which the council now wants to ignore and destroy. The county must stand up against these cuts being imposed by central governments hidden austerity cuts. Enough is enough.

This budget cut is an outrageous proposal from a council which seems to have forgotten it is there to serve the people who pay for its existence

it seems ridiculous that this is even being considered. Why should this award winning service have its budget cut??? Will we be expected to go to Kew to do any research?

I was brought up not knowing my family I found my ancestry were from worcestershire. It's important to know where you come from.

I support this petition and oppose proposed cuts to Worcestershire's Archive and Archaeology Service

Please realise how vital these services are. Understanding our past informs and shapes our future.

Please keep these archives accessible and available to students and any interested persons.

Cutting the budget to this extent will prevent conservation professionals,amongst others, from being able to do their jobs properly. The archive has a myriad of records to which we need regular access.

To cut this service would be an act of vandalism

we need to keep all this content for furture generations

The Archives are an asset we need to treasure as they benefit our society in many underestimated ways.

The Hive in Worcester is a vital and valuable resource for the local community and internationally. Please do not cut the budget on the these services which have been built up over many years. Historical records for Worcestershire need to be accessed at all times ....please reconsider this important service.

This is a valuable resource and must not be lost.
