These archive are a wonderful resource for students, community groups, school children, undergraduate and postgraduate students, family historians and academic researchers. Over recent years they have been involved in a number of fascinating projects, particularly in relation to the First World War centenary, leading to books, exhibitions and events which have shared history and heritage with many people in Worcestershire and beyond. It is imperative that ways of supporting them, to continue to provide such a valuable service for years to come, are found .

These services too important for such radical cuts. The amateur Archaeological group I belong to have regular contact with the staff members and use the research archives regularly, to the extent that we know the names of everyone in the department. We would hate to lose any of this.

It's a no brainer to allow this service to cease. There must be found ways to keep it and the suggestions in the letter look commendable

It is the public who fund these services by way of council tax. They should not be deprived of these facilties.

The loss of such an important collection would be a huge loss to Worcestershire and to Britain more generally. If we lose the richness of our local and national culture we are diminished. As local civic leaders I urge you to deal wisely with the assets under your care.

The service provided by WAAS is unique and it would be to the county's detriment if this service is irreparably damaged by severe cuts to its budget. The Council must work with WAAS to agree a budget that is manageable whilst ensuring WAAS's valuable work is safeguarded.
