and should be increased not decreased if anything. I have noticed using the Ancestry application that Worcestershire tends to have fewer actual records online than many other counties in the UK!

Does it not matter that we lose access to our local history? It’s the small bricks that build the bigger structure. I’m an historian and have been involved with local digs and investigations and I know the value of preserving access to local resources.

Cuts to the Archive and Archaeology Service are cuts to our history. Their impact is wide ranging from attracting tourists and visitors to our international known Hive to affecting Worcestershire's role in the national archive network. We have a nationwide reputation to uphold.

Limewood Working Group members have used the Hive's resources extensively in recent years with wonderful results researching Shrawley Wood, seven miles north of Worcester, the largest Limewood in the country, enabling this wood to be the most researched of any wood in Britain. We intend to publish these findings in a monograph for posterity and understanding.

Members of The Badsey Society have spent many hours at the Archives looking at primary sources relating to our village's history. Without this valuable resource, we, and other local history societies, will be unable to undertake the necessary research for writing our publications and for producing articles on our website.

Austerity was supposed to be about cutting out waste, not cutting services to the public.

Superb service for all historians and a commodity missed if taken away. One area where the budget should remain intact

Please keep the hub open I think we have lost a great amount of history in and around Worcestershire and it would be a great shame to lose more

it is essential that we all retain access to these priceless records.

This is far too important to receive such a drastic cut in funding. Learning about our past helps us to make wise decisions bout our future.

Please don't destroy this service; looking back into the Archives is so important for the mind - keeping people happy.

We need these archives for students and researchers

I find these proposed cuts quite appalling. Our historical research depends on this brilliant service and in turn the future management of our woodlands and countryside depends on the historical findings.

The Archive Service is a most important facility and should be available to all interested parties for research.

Access to the Archive Service is essential for anyone interested in local history.

Please find other savings and choose to do the right thing. We need the archive and archaeology department.

The proposed cut in funding threatens to undermine an efficiently-run public service of which the County Council should be very proud.
