The archives contribute so much so many to so many people. They have inspired me personally for over 50 years, firstly in my own education, then in searching for family history and helping others to do so. They help young people to understand and enjoy the past and older people to look back at their own past. Then there is the whole field of academic research for which the Archives and the University are justly proud.

These archives must be available to all of us, adult and children, researching local and family history as well as parish records. We are already behind many other counties in the availability on-line so the physical records must be available to all who need them. Please reconsider any cuts; our service is award winning and MUST stay open and available to gain more awards and bursaries.

Its not just historians who use archives. A community loses some of its identity if it loses sight of its history.
