This is a wonderful service that is a key part of Worcester's plan to be a Historic Tourism destination - it would be a short sighted move to cut the service.

Not everything, by a long way, is available on-line. The children's area makes learning natural and fun.

This is a proposed funding cut of more than one third of Archives' budget !! Doesn't it look rather publicly stupid to have funded Archives to the point that it has gained national awards, and then stab it in the back?

Understand the reasons for the cuts, but this is our heritage - keep the archives accessible for all!

Having written in support of the Elgar archives being retained in Worcester, it would be tragic if a cut in services restricted access to all the priceless materials that are currently held.

I worked with microfiche archives for a council many years ago. Without those archives some families would never have been reunited. Record old and new have great importance.

It is essential that the Service continue into perpetuity. Our lives are short but our history is not; please do not leave Worcestershire's children in ignorance of their heritage.

Our county archives are the key to our heritage now and for future generations. To lose access to them to any extent would diminish our society.

Please don't cut the budget. People need to be able to learn about their heritage and ancestor. I live in Australia and researching my family tree has reduced my feelings of isolation from my kin, increased my self-worth and sense of identity because I belong on our family tree too. Please don't rob me and others of that journey and connection to my ancestors. Thank you. Ms E C Bridge. Australia

How can a city that is justly proud of its history contemplate such a philistine and short sighted move?

The Archive and Archaeology Service is one of the most important for people interested in the history of Worcestershire. Any further cuts to the Archive Service would be a disgrace.

I understand austerity has far-ranging effects, but to lose access to archives is to lose and forget our history.
