It would be tragic if these services are lost. We have used both to enhance our knowledge of our local area and identify finds from our garden.

How can we move forward if we cannot refer to the past.

As a genealogist, your archive is invaluable. It is also used by many historians and should be easily and readily available to researchers.

As archivist for the Croome Estate Trust, I looked after and the huge Croome Archive for more than 25 years. It was always available for academic research and numerous authors wrote to say how grateful they were for the knowledge acquired. For this service to be curtailed after 10s of years of public use is tragedy, it was given to the NATION,, not WAAS, in order r that it be available to all in perpetuity

Archives are an extremely important resource for everyone from children doing a history topic to University students and book researchers etc. To deny this access is an awful decision and should be reviewed.

This is a shocking decision

Ought to be increasing the budget not chopping it.

If Worcestershire goes ahead with the proposed cut, it shows a blantant disregard for heritage, culture, and the people who care for them. Truly horrifying.

This is a disgrace.

I lent the old Ordnance Survey county series mapping for the Wyre Forest area a I thought it would be useful for people. If they are not going to be available I would have left them in my loft.

I think the drastic cuts proposed to all libraries in Worcestershire area are pretty dreadful. Libraries and their education and cultural activities are important o all residents but particularly children and retirees. The Hive should be protected against all cuts.

The proposed cuts will seriously the Service’s ability to function whilst achieving a small saving in WCC’s overall spend,

Save the past for a caring future.

These things are irreplaceable and should be treated with maximum care and respect.

It is so important to keep and look after our past. Wiki is not a replacement for original documents.

This is about more than the short-to medium-term loss to the provision of education and research services. Without an archive and a team to run it, documentation created today and tomorrow, that is vital to the history and definition of Worcestershire, will not be preserved and made available for the future. We will literally lose lifetimes of history. Worcestershire Archives have been chronically underfunded for years - that the staff provide the excellent service they do is evidence of their dedication and determination not to be cowed. But they cannot live on air and provide good services from an empty purse. Please do not cut their funding any further.

If the we let these things go because of budget cuts we loose our history for the younger generation and for people doing family trees

An archive without access is pointless. The very moving WW1 display by the Cathedral was an example of what can be done with good access to historic records. We owe it to future generations to keep the expertise to match the physical archive. The Service has achieved national awards and are part-funded by grants etc. , if the underlying support is lost all these external funds will soon fall away and the service will collapse altogether. Do not destroy this facility, rebuilding it later will cost a lot more!
