The Archive Service is a credit to Worcestershire. I found the staff so helpful when researching for the publication Abberley Lives and I would hate to think that help would not be there for other newcomers to local history.

It is our responsibility to take care of the items our ancestors thought were important. The Hive is doing an excellent job but it must have the resources to continue this.

Worcs Archive and Archeology service is extremely well led with able and dedicated staff. The service has done incredibly well coping with previous cuts but those proposed now will destroy the Archive service as it now exists.
The County Council needs to urgently reconsider its proposal as the cuts will be a false economy. The service as it stands as has the potential to generate more money to finance its important work .

The archive service is essential to my research into Croome's history and into Worcs. historic gardens. I also witness many others using it for academic and family history research, greatly assisted by the excellent staff.

How much longer can we carry on destroying our cultural heritage? Archives , libraries and museums are a sign of civilisation and when we reduce them to a shell or close them we become barbarians. On a personal note, my career in historic buildings and landscape needs access to the Worcestershire Archives, a magnificent service that has won awards. You are threatening my livelihood and also my more general interest in discovering, researching and writing, all helping to keep ageing minds active. Shame on you!

Cutting the budget by over a third will kill a valuable an award winning resouce much valued by all who use it - the history informs our present and should not be discarded!

I use this facility regularly to research Local History records. As a member of a local group who publish our findings, the closing of the WAAS would be a disservice to the wider public who love to read our publications.

Disastrous proposals which will wreck research and educational opportunities to explore Worcestershire's history and heritage. For people in the county it will be equivalent to closing the National Archives and declaring that the County Council no longer cares about its past. My family and I feel angry that we have given thousands of items to the Archives over the last 50 years in the belief that they would be looked after and made available to everyone.

I agree with the comment made by Geraldine Stapely. I'm now rethinking where my collection of Witley Court memorabilia will be deposited for future researchers, etc.

Worcestershire history is so much a part of world history with families buying land off Will. Penn, our American friends love visiting Worcester and equally our Keen Researchers from the Commonwealth countries whose ancestors played such a large part in our own history, Yes its all there to be seen in the Hive.
So important to Keep Real History Alive.

Both as an archivist and as a member of the public I am appalled by the the ppast and projected cuts to this and many other local archives across the country. Short term thinking with very long term effects.
