I was a Winters Warrior and see nothing derogatory about the Indian mascot. We always had pride in our mascot and still do.

I was proud to be a Winters Warrior. At no time were any degrogatory comments made in relation to this. There were and still are students who have native American heritage and this mascot was never an issue for them. We should be proud to represent our native American people incorporated into our community with pride. I think the proposed version is horrible.

I find it ridiculous that NOW our "Warriors" mascot is offensive! It's always been Warriors for the last 42 plus years since I've lived here and went to school here!

As a former Winters PD Officer, I remember the pride WHS and its students had for their name and their school. The logo and name conveys a fighting spirit. How can that be offensive to anyone?

I'm a member of the Cherokee tribe and find that mascots such as the Warriors mascot are an acknowledgement of the Native American existence. In my mind the symbol represents the bravery and determination of an Indian warrior. This I'm sure is meant to be reflected of each and every young man that puts on shoulder pads and a helmet and represents the school with bravery and determination to win. I hope the board considers the history of a culture and this school and not the "politically correct" solution.
