No amount of high school nostalgia can compare to the cultural pride and traditions of native communities. It appears that most who are against this change are neither part of this community nor likely knows much about it. Let's show them the honor and respect they are owed by acknowleding that their native identity means more than a logo, more than four years of teenage memories. After all, how many of us Winters High alumni can speak about the Yocha Dehe Wintun tribe whose home is the land our beloved campus sits on? Its time to wake up Winters.

Using the Native American image to represent a "Warrior" is honorable. Why must everything be turned into a negative "offensive" issue? Keep the warrior image!!

As an alumni of WHS, class of '84, I sincerely hope that our community stands up to this ridiculous request/pressure to remove our proud Warrior symbol!!! Not only is it a huge waste of money, but the facts are clearly stated that the term "Warrior" is NOT offensive to those of Native American heritage, and is highly regarded in tribal councils and it's history.
The casino should find other ways to help our town, and embrace our shared pride of a Winters Warrior. Thank you.
