That is the one thing, and Atlanta does not have many, everyone had in common. We all knew where home was by the water tower. It was always the best navigation point. I have been gone some 20 years and just moved back home I described to my wife where everything was in relation to that tower. Also have great memories there let her stay.

I grew up playing on and around the water tower as a kid, when my parents owned the land right next to the water tower. The water tower has a lot of memories, sentimental value to a lot of people, and the water tower is definitely a historical landmark as it’s the original water tower that’s been around for many many years.

Leave it alone. If you don’t like it standing then move away. It’s probably some of these people that have moved here and didn’t grow up in Atlanta and go to school as the high school or as the grade school it’s the only history we have let.

As young as 5 years old. I remember the showers we got off that water tower when it sprung a leak, as though it was raining just on us. Haha. I too use the water tower as a vocal point knowing I am home! Keep the tower!

Have you looked into the Historical Society? If you can get it registered? Then they will agree to the upkeep.

As a kid I always knew I was close to home as long as I could see the water tower. Now that I grown and moved away. As soon as I see that old tower I know I’m back home.
