Save the UW Club!

This is where all the faculty had lunch with our weekly colloquiam speaker - now we have nowhere to go - please keep the UW Club!

The UW Club is a cherished part of the campus community. It really must be restored.

The UW Club is the very essence of the campus experience and important to community building and a sense of wellbeing on campus. Please save the UW Club!

Preserve the Faculty Club and erect whatever alternative structure seems more critical on the 50-yard line of Husky Stadium.

In addition to all its specific functions, the Club served to promote a UW-wide culture, beyond the silos of our individual departments.

We need the UW club to help make campus an attractive place to be and to build community more than ever.

I completely agree that returning the UW Club to its former prominence as an on-campus gathering space is important to our sense of "normalcy."

So many of our official functions are disrupted because UW Club is not available. We cannot take our faculty candidates for lunch or debrief at the Club, let alone specific meetings, workshops, special events, fund raising activities, and others. Please bring it back to us.

THE UW club was a wonderful place to bring visitors to campus as well as to meet UW colleagues and students. The atmosphere was quiet and friendly and the food was great.

We miss having UW c Club. Have supported and used for nearly 50 years.

This club played a major role in my interactions across campus as an active member of our community and will continue to do so as a retiree if restored.

We need something like this on campus for the faculty to use. Please bring this back, or something similar!

As a new faculty that started at UW during COVID, it's been a bit disappointing to not have a faculty club.

The closure has damaged our collective sense of community. It was not as sharply felt during the pandemic because we were not on campus, yet now that we need not just to connect but to RE-connect, it is.

I miss having a place on campus to eat a real meal in a more formal dining setting.

I miss the University Club

Inspiring conversations with colleagues, group grade-a-thon sessions, promotion or retirement parties, guest lunches ... just a few of the things I miss and took for granted about campus life

The UW Club brings everyone of every rank and position together for all manner of university events, and reminds us of our common mission. Universities too easily fragment into competing interest groups and municipalities; the UW Club reminds us of our shared values and goals. With proper care, the UW Club is a remedy for pandemic damage, and a resource for the future well being of the entire university community.

What distinguished UW -- in a positive way -- from CU Boulder where I taught for four years before moving to UW was the presence of the faculty club on campus. The fact that this is where I was taken for meals by different colleagues during my job interview was, on its own, an astonishing plus in UW's column -- there was something about the relationship of the faculty to each other through this shared space that promised a more collegial and informally friendly atmosphere.
