That's all we seem to do in New Jersey is tear things down. First the Duke Mansion, now the Union Hotel. This has got to stop!!!

Do not destroy the Flemington Hotel. It is an historic site. I lived in Flemington for 8 years and loved seeing it everyday. My great uncle went there when he served on the Lindbergh baby trial.

The Union Hotel is a big part of Flemington's history. The renovation of Flemington by knocking down this building and others for new ones is crazy. I won't be visiting or shopping there. Preserve and restore the Union Hotel!!!!

As an NJ native who lives in Maryland, I have to pick my NJ destinations carefully. If Flemington demolishes its history, then why on earth would I go there? Developers only think their modern buildings are a draw, to me they're a dime and dozen. Demolish Flemington and it will be no different than anywhere else. I'd rather go to Main St in Freehold.

The beautiful Victorian structures of Flemington are its heart. Destroying them would destroy the charm of this beautiful town. Town government should do all in their power to ensure that these important historical structures are restored to their original state so that the Victorian ambience of the town is saved for future generations to enjoy. If Jack Cust is determined to tear something down, let it be some of the unsightly strip malls around town!

Yers from now, when business is still spartin in downtown Flemington, we will wish we at least had the architecture and history remaining to build hopes around. Any new structure will be an eye sore at best. Then what do we do with the new monstrosity? Tear them down and build attractive buildings that look old?
Demolition is insanity; time will tell, sadly.

Read this story and agree that restoration of historic buildings with period architectural significance should be saved. "Not revolution but restoration" - Warren G. Harding. Please do all possible to remove all efforts to demolish history when and wherever possible.

To Anonymous: A movie theater would be great, adapted into a reused Historic Gem!
Destroying 4 Historical buildings that are in the "heart" of our downtown is a huge mistake that will be regretted. The trend is Saving the Old & blending into new. Not bulldozing a block of beauty for a overscaled monster that will block the sun on many peoples homes & cause gridlock. No Thanks! Mr Cust I hope you read this!

How is the Union Hotel the "Cornerstone of Main Street"? Wake up - we are fighting among ourselves to save the Union Hotel, keeping the future held down by a history of murder. The Lindberg’s aren’t trying to save it – why are we? The Union Hotel is not going to attract the next generation of young families and businesses. Boarded up, even millions of dollars cannot save it. I can't believe the bondage to the past, and a past that is negative. On top of it, to be so smug and rejecting to a local developer, pretty generous and invested when you look at the bottom line… I'm sad to see my neighbors be so difficult. Special was the movie theater. If this plan goes through we will need a movie theater - and that will be a good thing. If you listen to anything the developer says – we will have a cool theater again. If this plan doesn’t go through - we will need a miracle.
