I grew up in Flemington and would like to see if we can't keep or refurbish the hotel. Also jack, how about a movie theater in your plans!

The Union Hotel is part of the history of Flemington. Every way possible should be researched to save this building. This is our heritage, this is our town. Can we join forces to preserve history?

This is insanity. Flemington's identity is embedded in its historic downtown. Why has it failed to protect its irreplaceable heritage sites? In New Jersey, Plainfield has 10 historic districts, along with a Historic Preservation Commission. New York has one of the stiffest historic preservation laws in the country, and although there has always been opposition, most of it came from real estate interests, who have been defeated by the will of the people who live there and who recognize what makes the law so important. Historic designation and preservation makes economic sense. It raises, not depresses, property values, And, a recent article in the New York Times focuses on the use of historic houses and neighborhoods as filming locations, generating income for homeowners, and tax revenues for the city. Please, Fleminton, do not allow demolition of the Union Hotel to go forward!

Other cities & towns preserve their character by scooping out and rebuilding historic sites and preserving the facade. Flemington could do that too. Also using Flemington Fur as an anchor store is absurd! Fur is a dying business (no pun intended). I doubt that they often have customers under the age of 60 buying from them.

How many more historic buildings will be demolished in NJ before we wake up and realize our history is going right out the window

It's an integral part of Main Street. Keep the facade, and tun the back into a large parking lot. Parking spaces along Main Street are scarse. I believe more people will be willing to go to the shops & restaurants here if parking isn't an issue.

I'd prefer not to have ugly sky scraper looking apt buildings. This Hotel is beautiful and needs a little TLC.

This landmark needs to stay. I now live in Florida android I tell people I'm from Flemington and they respond with where the Union Hotel is.
