As a carpenter who uses old world techniques and tools as well as well as modern to replicate the look and character of these historical buildings I would hate to see another one of these buildings demolished. Just think about what they had to work with 200 years ago. These buildings are not just a building, they are works of art. The craftsmen put their heart and soul into their work, unlike many today that would rather just knock down what's in the way to put a bland box in its way for the sake of making a buck. History should be saved and cherished. Without it we will lose the knowledge of where we've come from.
That being said. If the building does end up with the right people or trust, I would love to be part of it and if need be would offer my own time and talents outside of my everyday job to see this building become what it once was.

Save the hotel, Flemington was my home for 45 years! Still have family there and visit often, would live to see Union Hotel still standing

there are many reasons to preserve architectural gems like the Union Hotel. People go to Europe or New Orleans just for the type of ambience created by this beautiful building. We need to get the state involved and the Federal Gov't . . . it is, after all, an American historical site.

Flemington's only chance is to incorporate with Raritan Township to get the funding needed to restore Flemington's historical downtown. Raritan likes to say they live in Flemington, just dont want to foot the bill.

You should be restoring such a historic landmark not tearing it down. Take some of the revenue from the outlets and the fur company and fix it

I'm an urban studies and economics major, I study gentrification and redevelopment and can tell you that jack custs idea will crash and burn. No young people are interested in his plan-- we don't need more strip malls and retail stores. Look at new hope and lambertville, those are successful towns we should be looking at.
