The new buildings in the master plan have no character and no meaning to the town. This building and its history IS this town. It must be preserved. At the least, its facade must be preserved.

I can not believe they would destroy such an iconic place. I think it should be restored to the way it used to be, put a restaurant back in there and allow the hotel to be used. Like a step back in time almost.. Its a dam shame this world is always in such a rush why not just slow things down and step back in to the past abit a enjoy

I haven't lived in Flemington for over 20 years, but when I drive through now I can't believe how much it's changed since I grew up there. It used to be quaint and unique. Historic buildings that once gave the town it's charm have been ripped down to build strip malls and mediocre chain restaurants. Leave the Union Hotel alone, please.

When I first heard about this plan, I was floored. Tearing down something that creates a sense of place and uniqueness seems like one of the most thoughtless ideas to "recreate" Flemington. Flemington doesn't need to be recreated; it's uniqueness should be celebrated and built upon. Keep the facade, rebuild mixed use in back (including residential, since that's so obviously lacking), and create a neighborhood for this historic landmark to thrive in.

The Union Hotel is a huge part of Flemington's historic past - and a part of America's past. We don't need more "cookie cutter" architecture or more strip malls - we need to keep our town's character.

We cannot let this landmark be torn down. This used to be the heart of downtown flemington, we need to take the time, effort and money to restore this landmark, and hopefully jumpstart a stream of efforts to bring back out downtown Flemington

It has been SINCE THE HOTEL closed that the whole town has gone to Hell .I just pray it that all the new comers want to have a beautiful historic community to live in.like Flemington had been for so many years. I read how Hunterdon Co. is the healthiest,the best of this and that but Flemington has become a highway of chain stores and restaurants. Bring the old community charm back.

People closer towards NYC sought moving out here for the charm and country but yet we seem to be becoming just another box store town from somewhere on 22 East of 287. Let's help keep the little bit of history we have left intact.

It would be a tremendous loss if the Hotel came down. There is a lot of History wrapped around the Hotel and the Court House. Remember the Lindberg trial.
