I hope we can help The Union Hotel in Flemington. Just too bad nobody tried harder to save the Flemington Speedway and Fairgrounds.

So glad you started this. Can't we save the town without tearing down an historic building! They renovate worse buildings than this. Save the Inn!!!

Saving the hotel is not enough. The existing plan calls for the demolition of two historic streetscapes and their replacement with a generic monstrosity. The entire re-development plans needs to be completely revamped. I recommended saving and restoring all of the buildings that they want to demolish. Rehab the upper levels into high end apartments (the upper levels can be joined with modern construction in the back) and restore the street level store fronts. This would all qualify for the investment tax credit for historic preservation. The hotel should be fully restored as a restaurant and inn as the focal point. Then in a phase two - if deemed economically feasible at that time, Sympathetically scaled new construction could be constructed on the parking lots in the rear.

Union Hotel is a very important part of Flemington's history. Mr. Cust should be ashamed of himself. A college in town??? Really???

The historic Union Hotel is integral to the Flemington's identity. The image and spirit of the town would severely damaged should this structure be destroyed..

It would be sad to lose the authenticity and architectural features of the hotel's time period.

Not only do we need to save the Hotel but also the other buildings along there set for demo if Cust's plans go through.
Too much history to let it be destroyed
