Why does everything historic have to be torn down? Then they put up some ugly thing that only stays in business for a couple years then sits there vacant as an eyesore. These historic sites are better made than today's stuff and much more attractive to the eye.

Visiting Flemington I found the Union Hotel to be the most iconing place together with the court house. It is a historic gem with the potential of being a vibrant meetingplace.

The Union Hotel is historic landmark that must be preserved! Flemington is a County Seat. There are government funds for this.

Keep what make you unique... Loosing the Union Hotel is a mistake... Next maybe the court house across the street ... The update look of Main Street never worked. Sadly this will be no different.

I would love to see development but do NOT want the Union Hotel dolished. This is a pice of history and should not be treated as anything but.

my grandparents lived here, my parents born and raised here , I'm born and raised here and now my children. Please don't destroy the last of our historical buildings and main street. Look what has been done to the rest of town and look still a ton of empty buildings sitting around . This would be a disaster......

A local to Flemington for 60 years and my parents before that, I am so sad to see what is happening to our little town. The Union Hotel must be saved to keep what is left of our very used to be small quaint little town.

Jack Cust, as a fellow IHS alum (I graduated in '05) and someone who grew up and lived in Readington for 27 years of my life, I can't believe that you would want to tear down this famous hotel. What's wrong with you? I used to be thrilled that Immaculata had at least one notable alumni, and I like that you established the baseball academy near the old Lipton plant, and yes, it is certainly true that downtown Flemington is pretty boring and run down. But just as we lost the Flemington Fairgrounds nearly 20 years ago (I have faint memories of my artwork and my Mom's artwork being judged there and the rides!), I also recall dining at the Union Hotel with my parents when I was little and being impressed by it. I was a History major in my undergraduate degree so I cherish local history and genealogy...but I'm appalled that you would tear down this historic landmark. Isn't this place protected? Don't you have plenty of money to restore it?

So many towns regret what they have done in the past, in the destruction of their Historical buildings, this is a crime in the making! Flemington,please don't go down this path and be so shortsighted. Don't destroy your history .
