I agree that at a minimum, the facade should be saved. The third floor was in bad shape when I was in high school. So I completely understand engineers will question the integrity of the structure. But a good architect could work the facade into a new design.

I was born here and lived my entire life in the area. I was a regular at the UH for 16 years until it closed. I am tired of the town and my culture being torn down over the last several years. I don't understand why all three buildings can't be incorporated in the development plans. In a time when "branding" is important, tearing down the UH is removing the symbol or icon of Flemington and is foolish. What would Clinton be without the Red Mill?

Please restore the Union Hotel...not demolish it. There is so much history associated with the building. It would be such a sad shame.

We are living in a throw-away society that has no respect for the past. Every town looks the same with the same boring box stores. Save Main Street from the uninspired development practices of our time and invest in the preservation of beautiful architecture and the history of this town.

If you tear it down you might as well tear down the "historic downtown flemington" signs....

Fix up hotel. Do not destroy this amazing piece of history. It can be done without spending the millions necessary for the suggested plan

Instead of tearing it down why don't you restore it and open it as a hotel?

It would be a foolish mistake to allow the historic buildings in Flemington to be demolished. Why would anyone come hee except for the Victorian historic buildings?

Save the hotel. It is these old buildings that keep us coming into town. The proposed development and destruction, if allowed to happen, will be the beginning of a downward spiral. I would have no need or desire to visit Flemington if its old town character is changed to what has been proposed.

It's sad that these contractors and towns and whoever have no problem ripping down a piece of history. Why not restore it and make it beautiful again.
