I grew up in Flemington, and the historic Union Hotel and Courthouse were two of the first places my family went to see. It's old and rickety, but in many ways it's been a constant, and the glue that holds Main St together. I don't think we need another strip mall, Liberty Village is less than a half mile away. I hope this makes a difference.

I've lived in Hunterdon for my whole life and the Union Hotel has been a cornerstone of Flemington's Main Street for as long as I can remember. I needs to be saved not only for its historical value but for it's potential to once again thrive as meeting place and social hub of the county seat. To demolish it so that it can be replaced by anything else would be criminal.

Five generations of my family have lived in Hunterdon County. I grew up knowing how lucky I was to be raised in Flemington & Raritan Township. Send all the newbies from the cities packin' back to where they came from & let the real people of this fine town & county make the decisions best for the residents, & not permit another greed-grab.

If Clinton, Lambertville, New Hope can keep their buildings and maintain a robust retail market, so can Flemington! Let's cobblestone our sidewalks, reduce the price of lease agreements and attract the unique shop owners that once filled our town. Highlight our historic buildings and history, this you cannot recreate.

Flemington has lost so much of its charm by allowing retail to rule. We do NOT need more stores, we need to preserve the landmarks and encourage small businesses and things to do - preserve this structure and bring back an old time movie theatre. How about a community art center with classes? Involve the community, don't just try to take our money through retail.........
