Save the Union Hotel in Flemington NJ

If these historic buildings are demolished I absolutely will not spend any money in a store located in their former footprints. The beautiful, historical buildings are the only thing worth seeing in town. If they are gone, there is no reason to waste time in town. I can see soul less new construction anywhere.

To think about taking down this beautiful and historic building is shameful. It wouldn't be progress but would be a desecration of history. I'm not really sure why it has fallen into such sad disrepair, but I remember, not that long ago, when the restaurant and bar area were hopping - at least on weekends.

Flemington belongs to all of Hunterdon, and its history belongs to all of America. Destroying the Union hotel and other historic structures on Main street, is in reality destroying our national history and the rich historic legacy of Hunterdon County. Main Street must be saved.

I have lived in Raritan Township since 1985 and saw what happened when a beautiful movie theater was torn down to make Coat World! Now,it's a Walgreens!!! Just what this town needs!!More drugstores,banks and strip malls!! Now they want to destroy what's left of historical significance in the Borough! When that's gone,so too will the character of Flemington. Take these parking lots,apartments etc and place them elsewhere..not in Flemington! Get the advice of the long-time town planners,not Mr Cust!! Or..is it a done deal because money talks!#

The historic Union Hotel gives the courthouse a sense of place. As do all the other historic buildings on Main Street. Once it's gone, it's gone. Hopefully, Flemington Boro committee members will come to the realization the long term revitalization and vibrancy of downtown Flemington are tied to valuing and preserving the amazing history that Flemington has.

Save the hotel! Does anyone else think the Mexican population who is taking over the town has anything to do with this? We are competing with the internet buying, lack of income for the real estate on Main st. Use a trolley in Flemington, and keep cars off Main St. cobblestone streets would look really good.

Madison was a historic town for many years but lately the town council has changed in what it values. It seems to attach more value to ratables instead of maintaining what used to be historic and charming. Now a drive through our town is beginning to appear just like any other nondescript town, devoid of citizen pride and affection.

The Union Hotel is inextricably tied to the Historic Courthouse across the street due to the Lindbergh Trial, which is Flemington's biggest and best known historical event. To have it and the surrounding buildings demolished, only to be replaced with modern cookie-cutter structures would destroy the charm and character of downtown Flemington. How about revitalizing Liberty Village by moving the proposed uses there and restoring, rather than destroying, downtown?

Too much history to tear down. There are ways to develop downtown while keeping the history that helped shape the community.

Save this historic building. Once it's gone it's gone forever. Much history to be learned here.

Need to restore! I was born and raised here and I have seen to many historical places torn down. We need to keep this historical site in place. It breaks my heart to see another structure disappear.

The Union Hotel is a valuable piece of Flemington and should be saved. It is much more valuable than replacement buildings.
