There are PLENTY of open spaces in the Turntable Junction/Liberty Village Outlet areas that can be developed instead. We need more parks, not more parking lots and it is time that we, as a community, stand up to the Cust family and say NO to more development. NO to more "paved paradise". NO to more ventures that primarily benefit them and can harm our environment, wildlife, and way of life.

The demolition of this wonderful landmark is about money and greed. Let's preserve our history and not put up another building that will eventually be another empty eyesore........

So few people are aware of the deep history of these properties.. having grown up in Hunterdon County, raised my family here and now my grandchildren, I can appreciate the importance of preserving our past. Restore the Hotel.. don't make Flemington into one of those towns that 'used to be a historical landmark' .. make it one that 'remains a historical landmark '

We moved here last year and have enjoyed the historic and "small town" look and feel of our new neighborhood. We are so sad to see, that in a county so rich in New Jersey history, that the demolishing of these beautiful buildings would even be considered. Please preserve the bucolic and peaceful nature of our downtown!

I am against tearing down the Union Hotel & the other buildings. I live in Flemington, putting in new ones would be a mistake. I was told the Hampton Inn can't rent 1/2 of their rooms & the county rents the other rooms for people down on their luck. 3 restaurants & bars would put other ones out of business.

Our first visit to Flemington was this weekend. We live in Montgomery Co. PA. We enjoyed a ride on the steam powered Black River RR, dinner at Grill Shack (highly recommend-delicious) and the evening car show. PLEASE save the historic buildings in this town for all who live there and all who visit!

The Union Hotel was a huge part of one of the largest trials in American history. Deciding to tear it down and replacing it would essentially be ripping out pages from not only American history books but also New Jersey's history. The Hotel for an extremely long time was the landmark for Flemington and now all we have is a ton of half empty strip malls that no one really goes to, why make another mistake like that again.

There are other areas in the town to build , you save money if you build on property that had an existing buildings If you want to keep everyone happy build near and support saving the historical character

The proposed plan to demolish the Union Hotel flies in the face of standards set forth by the Secretary of the Interior for the protection of properties and locations listed on the National Register of Historic Places. By failing to consider mixed-use or adaptive reuse projects that would create low-impact modifications to the town's streetscape (like the one proposed by RPM Contracting in 2012), the Mayor and Freeholders are showing their careless disregard for Flemington's unique history by supporting a so-called "revitalization plan" that will only serve to fuel one man's greed. Jack Cust's vision is an abomination and is fundamentally contrary to the character of our town and the passion of its citizens. Local groups like the Hunterdon County Historical Society and the Flemington NJ Historic Preservation Commission should be ashamed at their inaction. Furthermore, the level of hypocrisy the Mayor and the entire Council show by advertising Flemington as a "Historic Borough" on one hand while supporting the demolition of its character with the other is disgusting and utterly reprehensible.

What can the residents of hunterdon expect from Freeholders who care more about power than what is right
to do. If the developers plan is approved and accomplished no one will visit Flemington. They will go to Lambertville and Frenctown and other towns that have retained their history and ambirnce. This developer has to be stopped. The borough has to follow the plan submitted and approved long ago. I thought htis mayor had Flemingtons best interests at heart. Apparently not.
