As a school librarian I realize the value and need of reading literacy skills for academic achievements. Let’s work to give all students the best opportunities to develop literacy skills are the foundation of learning! I was born and raised in Troy. I raised my three children in Troy for 35 years. Troy will always be in ❤️

I am shocked that Reading is on the cutting block, especially for a city school. Start at the top, cut Administrators, not Principals. Just insane to cut Reading. Don't cut the Arts either.

I couldn’t have said it better, Lars...except you forgot or weren’t aware of how many of John Carmello’s cronies he brought with him when he was thrown out of South Colonie. We need to look at their salaries as well—Athletic Director, Executive Principal of THS, Rich Hurley, glorified monitor of THS and of course all the Board of Education plants for favors. Enough is enough! Who can afford those taxes in Troy? Not many!! I couldn’t!! Imagine what could be provided to the Troy students and teachers with this overkill of administrators!! Whoever says hiring in TCSD is fair is a bold-faced lie.

My son benefits from the teachers at School 2. They are the most patient with him in comparison to a school that is supposed to be top notch. Do NOT by any means cut funding or resources.

It is imperative to retain the Reading Department at ALL schools for the benefit and future of our children everywhere, in America, and specifically in regions such Troy. The reading teachers are the only hope for many children who struggle and are in danger of losing the only chance they have to better their opportunities in life. Save this department!

A destructive decision, made by a corrupt administration, and supported by an inept school board. If the Troy school district needs to save money, it could start by firing John Carmello, who's paid $275,000 a year (by Troy taxpayers) to take fundamental educational services away from the very taxpayers who keep his bank account flush. Disgusting and reprehensible.

Save our reading teachers. I have worked alongside some of these wonderful educators and can’t believe the district is actual considering this action. Worked as a teacher in Troy for 15 years.

I am a retired teacher. I taught in Troy for 34 years. Cutting the reading department is the worst thing that this school district can do. Those teachers are invaluable. Troy, you should be ashamed!

Can't think of a group of people Troy needs more, to be honest. Keep these reading teachers. Keep all teachers.

This is disgraceful. There is nothing more essential that education even if covid19 has forced remote learning and financial strain.

I don’t understand how students are expected to continue and cultivate their education when fundamental programs are cut. I’m embarrassed to even have to sign this petition.

READING is Fundamental. Cut the administration or Special Ed. rooms with only 2 and 3 students in each.
