You can't get to the S, the T, the E, or the M if the students can't read. Cutting programs like this is both shortsighted and self-defeating.

As a librarian I know first hand the importance of reading to every individual. It is the building block for ALL learning. Please do not cut the reading teachers.

Children will need the support of Reading teachers in September. The district already is aware of the loss of skills over the summer yearly. Now add that to this 4 months. The students will need support. The district needs to come up with a Plan B,C and offer other solutions. The School Board should not see this as acceptable.

I was borne and raised in Troy. I went to Carroll Hill, school #14 and am a proud graduate of Troy High (class of 1979 ) I urge you to reconsider cutting the reading program! Reading is so important to the cognitive development ,critical thinking and it makes us more empathetic , and improves confidence. Reading makes "life long learners". Please do not cut this program !!

How about cutting some Administrative positions as well as salary cuts. The work in classrooms count.Let's cut assistants to principals and let the principals run their schools.Too much overhead.Teachers are the roots of schools.

I am a Troylette at heart. I lived in Troy from 1990-1999. I am a graduate of Troy High. To see something being taken away from the children of Troy that is a good thing makes my heartache. Kids, students need this to help the good ones from going bad.
