I believe in Advanced Classes like Math, Reading, etc. Why put the brakes on learning as soon as you can? The best students need support from our Country and schools. I am retired but I was a tenured Michigan middle and high school teacher.

Reading is both a critical skill and a source of joy in people's lives. Don't defund this.

Being on grade level in reading is a crucial indicator in whether or not a person will go to prison.

Education is a constitutional right. This has been affirmed recently by a federal court in relation to a case in Detroit. Troy should not defund teachers. Let’s give all our kids a fair start to their lives. It is their right as Americans.

There has to be a way to cut spending that won't cut literacy in the city of Troy. My husband is a Troy High grad and current resident. Do better. Our children may be attending Troy public schools in the future.

How is the police department a hyper militarized and state legitimated gang but we can't have reading for our teachers?

Eliminating the teachers dedicated to reading in a district that is already so disadvantaged is tantamount to neglect. Be. Better.

Why are we paying taxes, yet more, and more are stolen from our children. Their education is absolutely a life necessity.

As a reading teacher, this saddens me beyond measure! Early reading interventionists are integral players in closing gaps and teaching life long reading strategies so kids develop into life long readers!
