This is a charming residential neignborhood. And a big part of the charm is the trees. I do not understand the necessity of cutting the trees. It is a crime.

As a former traffic engineer for the city of Los Angeles it appears to me that removal of these trees and a street widening does not seem necessary.

Everyone loves the trees on their blocks, they provide color and shade and beautify the streets. taking them out will decrease the property values, what point is there in this action. I have seen other cities build around the old trees and it looks great, instead of stripping the trees for blacktop and cement streets and sidewalks.

destroying these trees for an invalid reason is wrong and a waste of tax payer money, it is like building the bridge to nowhere

I strongly disagree with any plan aimed at destroying these trees.

The cutting of these trees will devaluate our neighborhood and do a great disservice to wildlife and homeowners alike. Just the shade from a mature tree is so welcoming!

If the City's own records confirm that Amherst does NOT carry a traffic load, why destroy these mature trees. If the record is not correct and the purpose is to help the traffic flow, sacrificing these trees and widening this small section of the street will not solve the issue. All it does is to create a traffic shortcut and bottleneck.
Stop the gradual destruction of our environment !!

This is a low traffic street and does not need to be widened. We have enough thoroughfares in Brentwood -- don't try to create another when it is not necessary.

I don't understand why it is necessary to destroy these beautiful trees. Neither do I understand why the city wants to widen this part of the street. Doing so seems both pointless and wasteful.

Don't we need more oxygen? Isn't it necessary to keep our body and environment healthy?!! Why should we cut beautiful trees that are healthy and will help the environment and our body?! as a health care professional, I definitely see this act unnecessary and more harmful!

Unless these trees are diseased, they offer shade, which reduces electric need for air conditioning, habitat for birds, beauty in an ever increasing concrete and urban landscape. The city makes exceptions all the time so why cannot they do the same for this project?
