Common-sense dictates this to be unnecessary and counter-productive. I certainly agree with the neighbor who suggests fixing potholes with the money instead.

It's ridiculous to cut down these trees, and, there is NO way of widening Amherst. The City would have to remove the sidewalks (!) for the street to become any wider. Traffic is low and there have been no accidents here, to my knowledge. My husband and I have lived on Montana near Amherst for 30 years, and I have enjoyed walking the block going south on Amherst and then west on Gorham.

There is no reason to remove trees that are not on a street needing to be widened. Please reconsider the permit allowing their removal, a totally unnecessary action.

leave the trees alone. no need to widen a street for a half a block, which annoys many and helps very few. use your collective heads and realize that if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it! if you have money to burn, fix the potholes in the neighborhood and plant more shade tree.

I ask the city officials to kindly listed to the people who live on these blocks and walk them everyday. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing to be gained from widening 1/2 block of Amherst. This street is quiet and free of traffic. Even if it had traffic (it clearly does not), it would be impossible to widen the rest of the street, as the surrounding blocks are already fully developed. Please let commonsense prevail and save our beautiful trees. Please don't destroy our streets' identity.

To remove a Canphor tree is outrageous. These trees are treasures.....often older than we are, and amazingly strong!

I live 3 buildings away on Montana. This is one of the Bureau's dumbest ideas in decades, along with the stop sign on Bundy. There is no conceivable way that Amherst could be widened. The street is already within 10 feet of the walls of many houses. Meanwhile the Bureau sits backs and ignores huge new developments going in all around Olympic that are absolutely guaranteed to generate total traffic gridlock, which we were already dangerously close to.

Why do you have to remove trees when it is clearly NOT necessary. Is there no one in the City of Los Angeles capable of exercising judgment? Apparently not.
