The club has officially decided to preserve the oaks and redwoods near the tenth hole. This outcome confirms that protecting our local landscape is possible when we choose to speak up for the environment. I appreciate everyone who took a moment to stand for these trees.

The Orinda Country Club is planning on cutting down a number of mature Redwood and Oak trees around the 10th hole green just off Miner Road in Orinda California. The trees are being cut in order to improve drainage on the golf course green which is ironic given we are in a historical drought and no other steps are being considered such as improving the drainage or thinning the trees.

Please sign this petition to voice your concern that the Orinda Country Club NOT cut these beautiful trees down.

I'm sure these redwoods were part of the original de Laveaga property when Orinda was first formed. Please do not chop them down. They also shield the home behind them from much of the road noise on Minor Road.

I think the 10th hole is the most beautiful on the course and should be our signature hole. It would be a crime to cut down those redwoods! The green has survived for many years with the redwoods intact and would survive for many more years without that butchery.

I am not sure if the plan is to remove all the trees, but if it is I strongly oppose it. If it is to remove only one or two and there is a good reason, then I suppose that is ok. But if the only reason is improving drainage and making the green somewhat better because of more sun and improved drainage then it shouldn't be done. I'll happily put up with the green as it has been rather than improve it at the expense of losing those fantastic, basically irreplaceble trees.

By removing these magnificent trees, you would ruin the ambiance of the area and destroy the home of much of the local wildlife. The area would just look "typical" and you would lose the charm of the old growth. All for what? Hitting some balls around on the grass?

The 10th hole at Orinda CC is beautiful largely because of these stately trees surrounding the green. Do not destroy them to make maintenace of the green easier!

Please, no more tree cutting! I'm more than willing to have a less than perfect green! I'd certainly prefer that to cutting down those beautiful redwoods.

All Trees, including but not limited to the targeted Redwood and Oak trees are marvelously beautiful and extremely important creations of GOD. As stewards of this planet, we humans must strive to protect this wonderful tree species, and all other tree species for that matter. This world would really be a much less safer and beautiful place without trees. Please consider every single tree species, sub-species, and singularity seriously, and be thankful to GOD for this priceless gift and creation.

I've been very unhappy about the cutting of trees and greenery all along Miner Road. If they were merely trimming away dead debris or windowing the trees that would be fine. Miner Rd use to be such a charming road. It's very disappointing
