It's time for those planning on running for Council in next year's election to state clearly if they support the community swimmers or the money grabbing temporary administration.

Manly council surely some revenue is better than none. At the moment you are denying future swimmers the right to swim. Remember these kids and people are you future customers. Lots of groups are paying lane hire and entry fees that they can not sustain and your income will fall if you carry on like this.

Council's position on the proposed outrageous lane hire fees for the three swimming clubs that use the MBC Pool is actually alarming. You would think that in an area surrounded by water and therefore where water activities are so prevalent (water polo, surf clubs, swimming clubs etc), they would acknowledge the benefit these three community swimming clubs bring. There are not many sports where the whole family can be included on one morning/afternoon each week where water safety and sensible behaviour around water is part of club culture. I have been a member of Manly Ladies since I was three (so 65 years) when I dog paddled my way in the mile swim. My daughter, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their children are still members and to date, there has been no swimming this season. Many of our members are members of water polo and also local surf clubs and do their bit patrolling beaches, free of charge to the Council. The Council likes to take credit for it's local sporting heroes but apparently doesn't want to assist at all in helping to create new heroes, particularly those who swim, by being reasonable, community minded and sensible about the way they are currently treating the 3 swimming clubs. So many families (NBC rate payers and voters) are being treated basically with contempt.

Manly council ignores any voice that don't suit their vision. No waterpolo pool?? Really. No swimming clubs?? 1000 kids play Waterpolo. Many more swim. How's the gym going? 47 members

Just so sad that the Council are unable to see the true value in Community Clubs - so valuable to generations past & present. Shame on you NBC!

As a life time member and former Secretary of the MSC the current situation really saddens me. The club has been such a vital part in the sporting community of Manly for many years and is such a wonderful, family activity that all can participate in. I truly hope that a resolution can be reached soon, so that this fantastic club, which is so full of colourful history, can function again.

It's important to encourage young people to take part in sport. It's a great community activity that has a steep history that the council is trying to destroy for financial gain! Although the money they are losing every week , now that all three swim clubs aren't there this summer must be signicant. The pool entry, cafe spending and a responsible lane hire equivalent to a pool such as North Sydney, surely is a positive for Manly Pool and the local community. The pool on a Saturday is this summmer significantly empty and there are numerous times when the lanes are empty. Now there are more pools to swim it is only a win win situation. Northern Beaches Council wake up and support your local community and history. Start listening to the people.

This is an important club and worthwhile cause. As well as a significant earner for the Manly Centre. Disappointed i havs purchased a family season pass with one of the main reasons being to attend swim club on saturday mornings with the family. Shame.

Just a small thing for the council to keep - a hugh thing for our young children - it's not about money sometimes it's about doing the right thing and encourageing children to swim is life saving

To think that NBC is actively discouraging ametuer swimming clubs to continue in Manly. So many youngsters are missing out - I'm sure Andrew Boy Charlton would be disgusted .....
