Why is it North Americans are seem in such a hurry to tear down our heritage properties to build "new"? This is an iconic building in Stratford, and one of the reasons I enjoy going there: for the architectural beauty of their older homes and buildings.

We must stop naked greed from destroying what's left of our heritage. Decisions like this to be left to local government - not a developer friendly provincial bully!

Having lived in Europe for 5 years I believe we can do a better job with our heritage buildings. So important for Stratford!

I grew up on Centre Street just around the corner from the Stratford White House! It is an iconic building in our beautiful city. I have been living in London, UK and travelling around Europe for the past two years marvelling at the beautiful historic buildings that have been preserved over here. We must do the same with our heritage buildings for future generations to enjoy and understand from our North American past. This building could be used as a museum or an archive or a gallery as so many European and American heritage homes are used. Please save this building!

Please do not destroy our heritage. Buildings and areas like this are why North Americans enjoy travel to Europe.

This part of Stratford is so special. The property as is, perfect. Don't follow Kitchener in destroying their heritage and history.

Keep Ontario's architectural heritage alive. A town with the statice that Stratford has as a distinct travel destination should work hard to keep buildings like "the Stratford White House? at 265 David Street as a focal point of the community.

Please pay attention to our heritage. I resided for many years in Stratford. One of the great charms of this city is its collection of heritage buildings. Please keep safe this treasure and others like it. Barry Peters

I have come to agree with the decision to preserve this historic cornerstone. No need for more regret regarding what could have been preserved in Stratford.

I used to live in Stratford for a few years and love this unique, historical home. Now I live in Markham Ontario, where heritage buildings are guarded robustly from destruction to preserve the past. I would like to think a city like Stratford would have the same care and stewardship of their past. Besides, tourists come to Stratford to see precisely this kind of thing, not new construction. Build out from the town, where there is plenty of space, don't destroy what can never be replaced.

These heritage buildings are the core of the community, once gone; we have nothing but glass and steel, no memories, no history.

Why in God's name would council allow this? Is nothing sacred? Our heritage deserves respect.

This is a lovely old heritage property with beautiful gardens, and is an ideal place for an Events Facility, both inside and out. It would be such a shame for such a stately piece of property to be sub-divided and the beauty and grandeur of this stately home destroyed.

The City of Stratford needs to back up the Committee of Adjustment otherwise it invalidates the entire process of city bylaws and zoning requirements.
