The zoo is an amazing place for families. My children have enjoyed so many memories at the zoo and learned so much from the workers. It would be such a mistake to close this beautiful suburban zoo.

Please save the Stone Zoo. It has an amazing dedicated staff that does an amazing job displaying a wonderful selection of animals. I have fond memories from my childhood at the Stone Zoo watching Major, the polar bear, eat his birthday salmon-cicle. It's a place I hope to one day bring my kids to have the opportunity to explore and learn. Learning about the world we live in is so important for future generations- places like zoos and aquariums give kids who can't go see a lion on safari in Africa a chance to learn about the amazing creatures the cover this earth.

Please release the funding that the Stone Zoo was supposed to receive. This is a place our children love and we want to have around for them to take their kids to. This is a beautiful landmark and deserves to stay open. Start supporting the positive outdoor things our children can enjoy so they aren't couch potatoes on a tablet. How sad it is that this zoo is looking at its possible last days. The city and surrounding cities should find a way together to figure out how to budget what is needed. Please, please do not close the Stone Zoo.

I'm not from Stoneham, but from Reading. I am signing to request the release of funds for the Stone Zoo. I enjoy bringing my grandchildren to the zoo, especially for the Zoo Lights display during the holidays.

The Stone Zoo was such a big part of my growing up years. We'd ride bikes there all the time. It had sooooo many cool animals in the 1980's. Please FUND it. You fund so many other things I don't agree with. Please LET THE ZOO STAY. Children and adults love it. There aren't many zoos around and it's good, wholesome fun.

I'm a resident of Melrose, not Stoneham, but every other fact of this letter remains equally true. Since the funding is already allocated and set aside for this, why not release it? The zoo's problems are not ones that can be solved by an increase in dedication or skillful zookeeping. Give them the chance!

With the endangerment of species today, and now even the Monarch Butterfly is being considered, it would be a financial impact to the community as well as to the education of children who will become the future caretakers of these animals and the importance of the environs we live in. The ripple effect a reflection of your administration and legacy when you leave office.

This saddens me that closing a zoo is an option in 2015. We need to continue to get our children outside exploring. As a mother & educator I don't think using state funds to preserve our zoo is unreasonable.
