The funding is finally moving and the zoo is officially safe so I am just sitting here in total shock that we actually pulled this off. I honestly thought we were shouting into the void for a while there but it turns out the animals get to stay because people …

Dear Secretary Ash and Governor Baker,

As a resident of Stoneham I am appealing to you to release the capital funding, approved but not released by the Patrick Administration, to support the Stone Zoo. The Stone Zoo is a cultural and economic asset to our community but its accreditation is at risk. The zoo is an invaluable resource to the community. A loss of accreditation would translate to a major blow to local residents and to our local economy. Thousands of visitors come to the zoo on an annual basis and, after an enjoyable day, frequent our local business and restaurants. We depend on these visitors to support our recent efforts to revitalize our downtown.

I can't think of a community who would be more negatively impacted than ours. Further, the Stone Zoo offers educational programming and opportunities that could not be replaced by a text book. I thank you for your consideration of this urgent request.

Its wild to watch the count jumping up like this while I am trying to finish my coffee but we really need a big surge to cross that thousand mark before we head to the office because numbers are the only language they seem to understand right now. Just keep moving this around to anyone who might care because imagine how annoying it would be to lose the zoo right when it is finally looking like we might actually get someone to notice.

I was just looking at the page and we are just about to hit triple digits which is pretty wild because it feels like just yesterday I was sitting at my kitchen table trying to figure out how to even start this. If we could get those last few people in today that would be such a strong starting point when I finally get to sit down with the folks at the office and show them who really cares about this place. Honestly I keep thinking about how much better the zoo looks this year and we absolutely have to keep that momentum going before they try to cut funding again

Stone Zoo is convenient to 93 and 95, and thus a convenient location for everyone who wants to visit. Parking is plentiful. Hiking paths, picnicking areas, and even boat rentals are accessible. It is a great place for a family outing. It must be funded.

We have lived in Stoneham for just over three years, and the Stone Zoo is one of the most important assets in our town and to us personally. Our young children delight in the frequent zoo trips we are able to make each year. Please save the zoo!

this place has so many memories for me. My parents took me there since I could first walk. I love the stone zoo. It's so little but it means so much to so many people. The animals don't deserve to be moved again. It's their home they don't know anything else.

please remain open for the sake of the animals and children. I have been going to the Stone zoo for almost 32 years and it's helped my anxiety tremendously. I'm also a member and have bringing my little sister, who fell in love from day 1, please and thank you
