The flag is part of our heritage and history. It never represented slavery. The murders in Charleston were caused by an evil man, not a flag.

Two of my ancestors, both brothers, fought and ultimately died for what they believed in. One was killed at the Battle of Stones River and the other was injured and captured at the Battle of Lookout Mt. He was sent to a POW camp at Ft. Delaware, Delaware. I believe they should continue to be honored for their sacrifice.

our history was earned by the blood of all brave men. They deserve the respect and honor they earned. How dare somebody be offended. Was nothing racial, all brothers in blood. WE must stand up for them and to maintain our history!!!!

I'm from the north, one of the main reasons I moved to the south was because of its heritage. This is a joke, Memphis. Remove your history and you're nothing.

Ignorant people, doing ignorant things, thinking that by doing so will make things better in some way. Memphis City Council your job is to serve "all" people including the white population who just might be proud Southern folks whose ancestors were killed and/or maimed during that terrible war. It's like you're pissing on their graves. How do you think we feel about that? So much for unification, love, respect and peace. This type of disrespect, lack of understanding, and arrogant, unilateral actions on the part of those in power serve only to embolden the nut-jobs on both sides of this issue.
