I wrote a paper about this in college. Such a shame. Thank you for stepping up to the plate.

It was not long ago when the Snipe was considered a State treasure. But, like a lost love we have turned our back on what could have been. Can we risk the killing of any species? I say no. Not today, not on my watch. I did not put on a uniform every day for us to destroy a treasure. We need to tear down party lines and not let this Bill pass.

I remember hunting snipe late into the evening as a young child. My grandmother taught me the snipe hunting song to help lure them out of their nests. SAVE THE SNIPES!

OH NO!!! SAY IT AIN’T SO!!! I’m so sad to hear this about the poor Snipe!!! With all that is going on today how did this get overlooked and get to this point? WE MUST SAVE THE SNIPE!!! How can we let the next generation grow up without ever being part of a Snipe Hunt????

When my grandmother was a little girl, she'd hold a lantern up in the swamp at night, and see thousands of tiny Snipe eyes twinkling back at her. And she loved the sounds they made! "Like a half-forgotten children's song, played hesitantly on a submerged toy piano," she'd say, and hum dreamily to herself. Sadly, there are so few left that I've never seen or heard even one Snipe. If there's a chance to save these creatures for future generations, we must!
