Save the Smithsonian's Enid Haupt Garden!

This is one of my absolute favorite areas in the Downtown Mall area. Please don't destroy it!

Please leave this beautiful oasis as it is. This garden and the Freer and Statler Museums are the most peaceful and beautiful areas of the Smithsonians on the Mall. Please don't mess them up for those of us who love them!

Please do not demolish this place of natural beauty in the midst of all the cement. As a longtime Friend of the Smithsonian, I oppose any changes to the Haupt Garden!

Please do not bulldoze this oasis in the name of progress. It's a treasure and needs to be preserved.

Of late, the changes pursued by the Smithsonian have in my opinion sadly diminished the institution. Drivers seem to be creating spaces for events rental, convenient bathrooms, and fast food. Erasing the splendid Haupt Garden is of a piece with this, it seems to me. Don't "fix" what ain't broken! Let's try to distinguish treasure from dross.

Please don't take away this peaceful haven in your big city....

This garden is a treasure. Destroying it and replacing it with some bland designs is a huge mistake. We must learn from DCs past and try to preserve these types of public spaces.

While not my most-preferred style of landscape, it is an absolute gem that fits perfectly with the Castle and surrounding buildings. It doesn't have to be removed for "improvements" and/or "modernization". And at barely 30 years old, it's just come into its own.

Destroying this would be a travesty!

I love this garden. Please do not destroy it. It's such an important and valued part of the Smithsonian and the Mall!

I often take my classes to the this garden for sketching. It is a beautiful respite that should be preserved.

Please don't destroy the garden. I visit other at least 6 times a year. It's very impute me.

As a DC resident I implore you to please reconsider. This garden is important to DC and those of us who live here!

Part of the Smithsonian's mission is to preserve nature. Destroying the Enid Haupt ('Nature is my religion') Garden goes against that. This garden is a joy and an oasis of peace for tourists and Washingtonians alike. Please preserve it.

A national treasure!!

I love that place! It is a nice little oasis in a sea of buildings and roads. Please keep it!

This is probably the most popular open space I can think of, especially for tourists from all over the world coming to our nation capitol and now with the all the flowering trees blooming & a beautiful view of the castle from behind. If you need more office space, how about further towards the Air & Space Museum--there's some open/ garden area there that don't get as much foot traffic.

Please don't get rid of the Haupt garden. We need more places like this. Not fewer.
