With all of the parts of the Smithsonian that could use some attention and an overhaul, why would you want to mess with such a well-executed, beautiful and loved space? I'm not necessarily opposed to innovative, new public spaces, but do it somewhere else please.

I am shocked the Smithsonian Institution would consider replacing the Enid Haupt Garden, a unique island of beauty & tranquility. The suggested new plan is an insult and would be totally out of character next to the historic Castle.

This garden and its surroundings is a cherished enclave in a busy city... While not Versailles it has its own air of grandeur and satisfies many wary visitors to the Smithonian ..

The Enid Haupt Garden is a lovely oasis on the Mall, one with historic significance. Please preserve it as you do important upgrades to the Castle and other buildings. It is far to lovely to destroy.

This is ridiculous. Those gardens are not only a peaceful oasis in the middle of DC, they are also interpretive spaces. The proposed redesign will be neither and erase the legacy of one of America's great champions for horticulture.

This is one of the few beautiful and peaceful spaces on the mall, very well designed and human scale for the enjoyment of all. Please preserve this special space.

The Enid Haupt Garden is a cherished work break spot for me that I often visit, a relief from work in a windowless building right across the street from it. A walk to see the magnolia trees blooming is a group trip many in our department take annually. Many of us also spend lunches in the garden. In addition, the plants and trees add much needed and established nature to the national mall. The winding pathway through the garden with the fountains is also delightful. I especially like the monkey puzzle tree and the plants in beds along the path. I strongly oppose any plan to demolish this space or remove trees in this garden. In addition, I think it would devalue the land between these museums, make the urban environment more harsh, and decrease urban wildlife habitat.

The Enid Haupt Garden is one of my favorite spaces in the entire city! It serves as a beautiful and peaceful respite in the midst of the bustling Mall. Please reconsider any plan that would remove this gem of DC.
