A friend of mine who had just undergone a bone marrow transplant at NIH could walk in and enjoy the garden but not the closed galleries which were filled with kids. His immune system was compromised.

I am a DC resident who walks through the Garden almost weekly, going out of my way to enjoy it, see it change with weather and seasons. I remember when the space held Quonset huts which constituted the air and space collection. Please preserve a unique and precious part of my city.

I live in Southwest DC about a mile from this beautiful garden, which is a treasure on the Mall. It is perfectly suited to the architecture of the building, and it would be such a waste to destroy its tranquility and many secluded spots in favor of a wide open contemporary square. We already have plenty of that on the Mall and other developments in DC. Please preserve this special place!
