New is not always better. Allowing future visitors to have the same experiences we and visitors in the past have had is more important than having a shiny new toy.

The Enid Haupt Garden is the perfect, most valuable, and venerable garden for this space. I beseech you to retain it in all its original design features and to protect it for future visitors to enjoy.

Spent time there 2 days ago - is is lovely as ever. I hope the plan to demolish the Garden has gone away but in case it has not I am signing this.

This garden and the gallery entrances should be on the registry for historic preservation. As a DC registered architect and supporter of innovative contemporary design, I would still fight to keep the Haupt Garden. BIG has many compelling and well-placed design proposals. This is not one of them!

I live & work in D.C. The garden is a gem, unique in D.C., a lush & lovely urban oasis that will be sorely missed - please, please do not destroy it!

One of the most horrendous designs of Ingels and totally inappropriate for this location. Do not alter the garden or the pavilions. Not only would that be a travesty it will also be a waste of money. If built it will go down in history as an architectural failure.

This is a formal garden in keeping with the Castle architecture, It has great aesthetically appealing plantings and is a wonderful place to explore and take a respite, Please DO NOT CHANGE IT to anything more "modern". Such a redesign will be a botanical crime, will look out of place, and will totally destroy the special sense of place the Enid Haupt Garden now has.

The current Haupt Garden is a historic treasure and cultural artifact exemplifying important design styles of the past which need to be preserved by the Smithsonian. Replacing this historic landscape with the proposed design is complete dereliction of the Smithsonian's duty and waste of funds.

The current garden is a quiet and inviting place where people happily gather and spend time. The proposed design of a barren lawn will cause people to quickly rush through. The design lacks interest and does not appear to provide any environmental benefits.

This is too much of a National treasure and sanctuary to destroy it and the beauty and solace it has to offer.
