The Enid Haupt Garden is a beautiful asset to the Smithsonian Institution and to Washington, D.C. With all the diverse plants, it is a mini museum in its own right. We need to retain all the beauty in the world we can. Nothing you put there will begin to replace it!

Please reconsider this plan to replace the Enid Haupt garden. It is a treasure! What the plan proposes is notinkeeping with the museum spaces.

Please save the garden exactly the way it is. Enid Haupt. I'm a tour guide and have been taking people for 12 years around that area and the garden is a solace and an oasis!

I used to love sitting in the Haupt Garden on a beautiful day. There are fewer and fewer places in DC where that is possible.

Who thought installing a grassy space across the street from the huge grassy space of the mall was a good idea?

The new design is ugly and not in keeping with the historic nature of the area. Grass is the most expensive-watering, fertilizing, pesticide spraying, mowing- non native plant possible and not good for this area. Sheet flow off of the grass will cause flooding. Grass offers no value to native birds, bees butterflies and other critters. Please do not destroy one of the most beautiful spaces in DC!

I worked directly with Mrs. Enid Haupt on the endowment ($3M) for this splendid garden. She would be enraged to think that the SI would betray its promise/contract with her!
Negating/destroying the trust of donors to the Smithsonian Institution will result in a very long-term financial reversal!
