The Enid Haupt Garden is a beautiful complement to the historical buildings and environment of the National Mall. I urge the Smithsonian Institution to reconsider plans to remove it.

As a supporter of the Smithsonian Institution, I urge the Institution’s Secretary to re-consider the South Mall Campus Plan so that the Haupt Garden and surrounding architectural and landscape features are retained.

Across the mall there are few areas that include gardens- it looks like the replacement landscape is just more grass, which we certainly don't need more of.

Hello, The Enid Haupt Garden and its attendant structures provide an oasis and treasure for Washington. And the existing design ensemble is a perfect counterpoint to The Castle. Any capital projects should "add" to the beauty and utility of this national cultural institution, but too many of the alternatives being contemplated "destroy" beauty and introduce new design concepts that are totally discordant with the architectural, historic, and cultural character of the genius of the place as it exists now. Please restore the Enid Haupt Garden and the several structures that provide access to the facilities below the surface. Some new and respectful structures that introduce daylight to the underground spaces could be considered as adding value depending on their design and location. The very large design concept with the uptilted lawn surfaces is not at all compatible and is a late and not very imaginative "follower" of other recent design concepts - as example see Lincoln Center's uptilted lawn.
