Save the Smithsonian's Enid Haupt Garden!

This is an important place of repose in this city, and it needs to be preserved. SI is not simply the museum buildings.

As a former Smithsonian employee, I enjoyed spending time in the Haupt and other gardens. It is a beautiful and loved part of the institution. Please keep it.

The Haupt Garden is beautiful. Not all of our national treasures are housed inside a building. Please leave the beautiful outdoor spaces! As more people live in condos and in cities, rather than sprawling suburban homes, we need MORE outdoor spaces, not less! Please reconsider this plan.

The Haupt Garden is one of the great hidden treasures of the Smithsonian campus. Its senseless destruction would make me question the role of the Institution as guardian of US history.

Preserving natural areas on our public spaces is critical. They promote caring about nature and exploring the outdoors, something we need for our children and ourselves.
