Please don't demolish this garden. In a sea of wide open space that the National Mall is, this garden feels like a secret retreat. Not to mention that the saucer magnolia bloom in the springtime makes this garden a highlight of the cherry blossom season.

The Enid Haupt Garden is a real treasure. Our family has enjoyed this garden for many years. We have many fond memories of our children's different interactions with this space as they have grown. It has always been a draw for visiting the museums. Please maintain this beautiful national garden!

This travesty in the making is the product of donor ego, unqualified and short-sided staff who risk adding to the tragic list of Capitol Losses, and a perversion of real needs (upgrading the Castle) to justify this unneeded, unwanted, and grandiose monstrosity.

the garden welcomes everyone to the Smithsonian from the very antiseptic portion of Independence Avenue. It causes visitors to stop and take in the architecture of the Castle and to see the African Art and Asian Art museums to their left and right. Please do not take this beautiful garden away.

I am a member of the Smithsonian and have for years enjoyed the Enid Haupt Garden each time I attend one of the many lectures and/or day-long seminars held in the S. Dillon Ripley Center. It is tragic to think about losing this beautiful, contemplative garden in the middle of our City--a treasure for sure. I remember when this area was a storage space for rockets now located in the Air and Space Museum. What a transformation the Enid Haupt Garden is from those earlier days! Please don’t destroy it.
