Loss of the Enid Haupt Garden would be a great loss indeed. Where else can we all, Washingtonians and folks visiting from around the US and the world see and enjoy such a lovely formal garden?

Destroying this restful and beautiful garden to replace it with a "futuristic plaza"?? Seems like a pretty atrocious idea, and will be just another wasted spot that has no purpose and no use.

Recently wandering the Mall, my wife and I came on the Haupt Garden unexpectedly. It was a delight to us, and obviously also to dozens of visitors. Destruction of it is nuts.

Why? Progress does jot include desteuction if history especially in DC. Whatever the motivation it's not worth losing the beautiful Garden.

The Haupt garden is not only beautiful, its design fits perfectly with the Smithsonian Castle as a backdrop. Leave the garden and the Renwick Gates alone!

I have great memories of escaping my cubicle to have a quiet lunch in this garden. So much creativity and care goes into that garden. What about the creatures that call that space home?
