Considering how urban areas spend time, effort, and money to incorporate more green space, an existing park is a treasure. And of all the cities in the country, Washington D.C. is the keeper of our history. Improve the area for access for the generations to come, but don't take away the reasons why they would want to visit in the first place.

I remember when the garden was created and the Smithsonian was proud of it. A wonderful article in the Smithsonian magazine. It is a superb garden, a respite in a busy city. Losing it would be terrible

We must keep green space in DC and keep them accessible. The Mall and the various gardens associated with the Smithsonian create a "Central Park" for DC.

Please do not destroy the Haupt Garden and associated architectural features as proposed in the South Mall Campus Master Plan. I believe that this would be counter to the mission of The Smithsonian and that they should be preserved for future generations to enjoy instead.

The Enid Haupt Garden has become so Identifiable with the Smithsonian that destroying it to build some ultra mordern abomination would be more detrimental to the Smithsonian's image.

They complain about the mid-century monstrosities made of concrete across Constitution Avenue, and at the same time propose a new millennium apocalypse here? It doesn't make sense. Hold on to what we have, especially if it is green. (p.s. by that I mean "green and of use" -- turning the mall into a museum of grass blades isn't the best idea either). think turning the Mall

The garden is just as much a destination for me and my friends as the museums are. Though I know gardens evolve with time, this is destruction, not evolution. Please keep the garden we love.

The Haupt Garden is a living, seasonlly changing display of hortcultural design, that compliments both the Castle and the pavilions flanking it. It is peaceful and refreshing meeting place for visitors, locals and SI staff.
As a former Smithsonian employee, I felt it was a gift we shared with the rest of the community and the world.
