The gardens are really nice, and loved by tourists and locals both for picture-taking. Downtown really needs more green space, in particular during the summer months when you have lots of tourists. The proposed designs are really, really wrong for our town. I do donate to Smithsonian, and I like many of the improvements I've seen--but I will stop if this is what we are wasting the money on.

It is such a beautiful garden tucked into a very busy area. A respit between two busy avenues. It would be a huge loss. Don't let it go!!

The garden is a jewel in the Smithsonian crown and a beautiful and relaxing oasis for both tourists and neighborhood office workers. Do not revisit 1960s-style urban renewal by destroying it.

The garden is always so nice to have in such a busy city of concrete. Please preserve it!!! If we cover everything that is green and beautiful with concrete or a building we erode away at mankind a humanity and connection to the world that sustains us.

I think there is a need for a beautiful quiet space to sit and reflect after visiting an exhibit in a museum. It also affords a nice space to eat outside.Please leave the Enid Haupt garden alone!

I truly hope you reconsider this plan. Demolishing the Enid Haupt Garden would be a tremendous loss to me, and I believe to the nation's capitol.

The Enid Haupt garden honors an important 20th c. Philanthropist who focused efforts on Gardens and their benefits, among other things. This garden is an oasis of caln and beauty adjacent to the Mall and accessible to all. It should be kept. The proposed demolition is an affront and sad downgrade of the space.

As a former employee of SI I think it would be very sad to lose this peaceful, beautiful place used to teach various kinds of horticulture at SI.

I love that garden. I spent many previous hours with my sons when they were little (even though their favorite place of the castle was the cafeteria). I hope we will be able to save the Garden. Thanks for starting this petition. Michelle Wang

Bad PR Smithsonian! This is what you do to Donors who answered your call to fund the Garden decades ago- why would anyone give their money to an organization which has no respect for the people or the Donors. If the Smithsonian needs more room- talk to GSA- the Goverment has many fine buildings they can rent - or build under the Mall.
