How do you think tourists would feel if the park and gardens of Versailles were being redone with a modern structure??!!
DC is a touristic attraction, do not ruin it!!! Stop this hedious project and leave the beautiful garden as is...

It would be devastating to lose such a tranquil and beautiful public space. The Haupt Garden is a jewel in the midst of the Mall and deserves pride of place next to the Castle. Please reconsider your plans to eliminate it. Thank you.

The huge cost of this project and the little result are ridiculous. We can't afford to fix Memorial Bridge or hundreds of billions of dollars of other deferred maintenance to our infrastructure. Get real, SI.

Destroying this garden would be very sad, I go there often for inspiration and the opportunity to reference plants growing in this environment/zone. It's great reference for gardeners like myself.

As a former SI employee of many years, I can only say I am distressed and appalled at the plans to destroy the Enid Haupt Garden for an ill-conceived and unneeded eyesore. The new plan does not have respect for the Victorian ambience of the Castle or the Arts and Industries building, or even the neo-classical Sackler Gallery. Why the Smithsonian would contemplate destroying the beauty of this garden oasis for an unnecessary revision when the Smithsonian has so many other financial needs, is beyond me.
